Management Lite

The International Safety Management (ISM) Code provides an international standard for safe management and operation of vessels and for pollution prevention, as adopted by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

In 2007, under Annex 2 of the revised Large Yacht Code (LY3) for all Red Ensign flagged commercial yachts over 24 metres and under 500 Gt there is an obligation to have an onboard safety management system. It is also strongly advised that all yachts under 500 GRT obtain Mini ISM certification as well.

Every superyacht using a Mini-ISM must act in accordance with safe operating procedures. Hemisphere Monaco offers dedicated shore support to yacht owners and captains to create, implement and review the Mini-ISM. This promotes regulatory compliance and promotes a safe working environment that protects against accident or injury thus reducing the possibility of insurance claims.

Hemisphere Monaco’s Mini-ISM reports include:

  • Review of safety systems
  • Familiarisation and training checklists
  • Recording sheets for emergency drills
  • Emergency procedures to abandon ship or for man-over-board, search and rescue, collision, fire or grounding
  • Muster list detailing stations and responsibilities for each crew
  • Safe operational procedures for equipment use
  • Standing orders for crew
  • Guidance for security procedures
  • Accident, injury or hazardous occurrence reports
  • Fuel and waste management plans
